Welcome to Twinkles Day Nursery situated in Leyton in the Borough of Waltham Forest.  At Twinkles we cater for children ranging from 3 months to 5 years 50 weeks a year. Twinkles Day Nursery offers a welcoming, secure and stimulating learning environment where all children are encouraged by trained staff to achieve their individual potential by active exploration and discovery through play and nurture confidence, independence and self-esteem.

We provide exciting, developmentally appropriate challenges so that each child is motivated, enjoys learning, has fun and offers every child a broad and balanced curriculum which will help them to fulfil their potential in all aspects of development.

To celebrate the achievements of all and create a partnership where staff, parents, and outside agencies and other members see themselves as part of a team, working for the benefit of the children.  It is imperative that children’s learning is supported by highly motivated staff and nursery officers and to encourage parents and carers to become actively involved in their child’s education, both at home and in the nursery environment.

“Children are happy, eager to learn and rapidly gain confidence in their abilities because of the caring relationships with staff, and the interesting experiences provided for them.” Ofsted Report 2013

All members of staff are qualified with NVQ3s and 4s and attend regular courses to keep themselves updated with any changes that may have been introduced.

"Working together with my staff, I influence a professional and caring atmosphere for children to feel welcome and confident. My main focus is to provide the children with good fun and education through each stage of their development". Nursery Proprietor – Sandra Garrett

Welcome To Twinkles Day Nursery

0-2's Creative Room

Our Baby Room caters for babies of 3 months up to 2 years. We have created a happy and safe atmosphere with excellent facilities for the children to explore in attractive and welcoming surroundings. We implement a routine to all children as a guide to ensure they are happy and content throughout the day.

We strongly encourage that every child has a settling in period which is tailored to meet their individual needs. As every child is unique, we find that some children may need little to no time to settle into nursery life whilst others may require a lengthier period of time. We recognise this and ensure that your child is given the time and attention needed.

We have a commitment to provide equal opportunities for all members of the nursery community and recognise that everyone is unique and celebrate difference.

We adopt a “home from home” like experience, which is what we find helps each child settle quickly into nursery life. At Twinkles we operate a key worker system where your child will have their own key worker who is responsible for your child's developmental stages.

Parents’ evening are held twice yearly to discuss your child’s progress and any concerns you may have. We find it’s an ideal opportunity for you to come into the nursery without the usual time restraints when dropping off and collecting your child, and instead can relax and actually spend some time looking at the work your child has been busy getting involved in.
On the ground floor we cater for children of 2 to 5 years using a large open plan space which has been organised into curriculum areas for the children to explore with toys and furniture that assist in the children's development.  Children are able to access all areas and equipment independently, having free flow access to the resources within the main classroom and art and craft room.

“In this small nursery, all staff know each child but have formed close bonds with the children and families for whom they take special responsibility. Children establish secure emotional attachments with staff, and as a result help children feel safe so they quickly develop confidence and independence.” Ofsted Report 2013

We find this approach encourages good social integration and offers opportunities and facilities to promote independence and development.
We have a separate arts and crafts room that we use for creative and cookery activities as well as using it as a dining area for breakfast, snacks and meal times throughout the day.

“Staff provide a well organised and imaginative learning environment that enhances children's engagement.” Ofsted Report 2013

The team works together to plan activities that are educational and stimulating for the children. Many activities are planned around the children’s own interests. Focused activities can take place in small groups or on a 1 to 1 basis where necessary.

“Children enjoy learning through play and enter the nursery happily, eagerly choosing what they wish to do from the interesting and engaging experiences offered.” Ofsted Report 2013

0-2's Private Garden

2-5's Playroom

The children's work is displayed around the nursery giving them recognition for their creation, of which they are very proud of.
Structured timetables and planned activities organises the day to day running of the setting and enables us to monitor the progress of each child, and highlighting areas for improvement.

“The nursery is well resourced with interesting areas to explore and investigate. Children's curiosity is stimulated because staff regularly change play areas, in response to their interests. Consequently, this arouses children's natural curiosity and exploration and helps them learn.” Ofsted Report 2013

We know the importance of nurturing children's developments and offer extra curriculum activities on a regular basis. Reward schemes such as stickers and stars are awarded to acknowledge and congratulate good behaviour, achieving new skills and being helpful.

Each child has their very own learning journal, which is what we use to record and monitor their development.  Members of staff are able to identify areas that need improvement, highlighting anything of concern.
We have a secure outdoor play area that we have designed for all age groups to enjoy. The main garden has been designed for the older children to access sand and water pits, climbing frames, cars and bikes. Within the main garden is a private garden area for the younger children.

“All babies and children have access to the secure outdoor play area. The all-year-round outdoor surface offers children access in all weathers and as a result develops their physical skills, such as clambering, jumping and balancing.

In addition a sheltered area provides exploratory play that engages children in care of plants and sand and water play. Trips to the park, give children further opportunities to explore larger climbing equipment that extends their physical skills.” Ofsted report 2013

We organise outings to local attractions, which help us to reinforce current planning activities the children are covering. We also hold Easter bonnet parades, Christmas sing a long productions and a fabulous pre school graduation ceremony

“Parents express appreciation of the staff's work and kindness, finding all staff approachable and friendly.” Ofsted Report 2013
