Established in in 1999, Nutkins Nursery offers exceptional, high quality childcare for children from birth up to 5 years.

Based in Eccles, we are easily accessible and offer great flexibility for parents travelling to work locally and within the City Centre.
We provide a home from home environment, where children are loved, cared for and educated in a relaxed atmosphere.  

All our nursery staff are chosen for their dedication and love of working with children. Warmth, sensitivity, confidence and understanding are characteristics we look for in our team at Nutkins Nursery. We believe that when you have this alongside qualifications and experience, children can truly thrive in a childcare setting.

We are very proud to be a registered ECAT (Every Child A Talker) setting. This means we encourage early language and development right from the outset, extending children’s vocabulary and helping them build sentences so that before they start school children are confident and skilled communicators.

Nutkins Nursery is part of the oral health programme "We are Tooth Healthy". Our aim is to encourage tooth brushing from as early as babies up to pre school age. A range of activities are devised to promote this on a daily basis alongside healthy eating.

Children are provided with the knowledge and skills to look after their teeth and make healthy choices. The nursery is audited every six months to ensure our high standards are maintained.

Caterpillars Room Birth-12 months

Within our Caterpillar room,  we have 2 rooms, the smaller being for young babies and sleepers, and the other being for older babies once they are on the move. Both rooms are bright and colourful and provide a wide range of equipment for babies’ development and stimulation.

We operate a key person system, where specially selected staff care for their small group of babies, enabling them to build up a loving, trusting relationship with both the babies in their care and their parents.

Daily Diaries are used to record information and to tell parents of babies’ progress as well as their eating and sleeping habits.

Our aim here is to work closely with parents and to take their wishes on board. Parents are welcome to spend time in the nursery whenever they wish.

In our Butterflies Room our aim is to allow children to learn new skills, and to give them freedom to explore and experience things first hand, whilst well supervised.

We have specially chosen equipment to encourage a child’s emotional, physical and intellectual development which works towards a strong child a healthy child a confident learner and a skillful communicator. All rooms have Notice & Information boards about the children.

We also have a separate ‘Messy Play’ area where children have the freedom to explore different textures with the aid of sand, water, play-dough etc.

This room is also used as a dining room where children can spend meal times away from their room in a relaxed and sociable environment.

We encourage a child’s vocabulary in many different ways using such methods as nursery rhymes, singing and storytelling throughout the day.

Butterflies Room (1-2's)

Cygnets Room (2-3's)

In our Cygnets Room, which is based on the first floor, toddlers are encouraged to discover their surroundings and to take part in experiences such as games, music & movement, baking and storytelling.

Independent and assertive children of this age are incredibly rewarding. They are now able to do much more and can interact with our staff.

A messy area is also incorporated in this room where children are free to choose from a range of activities to include sand, water, paints etc.

We work towards the early years foundation stage framework providing play and learning opportunities which staff observe on a daily basis which ensures all children's individual needs are met.  


Our aim is to encourage children to feel confident and valued, a child will never be pushed to begin the fundamentals of a more formal education, however, staff will take every opportunity to encourage and guide them when they feel that they are ready.

We have worked closely with our local Early Years Team to design our Pre-School Rooms in accordance with the four components of learning:

  • unique child
  • learning and development
  • positive relationships
  • enabling environments

The rooms are organised to include all of these areas of learning which enables your child to choose the areas that they would like to play in, therefore developing skills such as Decision Making, Confidence Building and Sharing.

After School & Holiday Club

For those parents with older children at school we can provide the solution to the ever increasing problem of finding good quality childcare after school and during school holidays.

Our "Out Of School Club" is a fun environment for children to relax and play with lots of fun activities, trips and "Little Superstars" sports sessions.
We offer a drop-off and pick-up service from Clarendon Road school, and run a holiday Club for 4 -11 year old's.

Swans Room (3-5's)

Sensory Room

Within our Sensory Room has been created to provide a relaxing, calming environment for our Caterpillar and Butterflies children. We have provided a variety of equipment and resources to allow children to experience the 5 senses.

These include, fairy twinkle and bubble lamps, mirrors, various textures, aroma bags and soothing/classical music.

Outdoors

Here at Nutkins we have created three seperate gardens. One suitable for our small babies, one for our toddlers and another for our over 2's.  Our gardens have recently been updated with large artificial grassed areas, which makes outdoor play in all weathers/seasons much more practical and enjoyable.

Our "Baby/Toddler Gardens" are seperate grassed areas with features such as a "telly tubby"hill, playhouse and snuggle pod, we also have numerous baby rockers, slides and tunnels. Sand/ water play  is also made available for the children.

Our "Playground" features a large artificial grassed area with coloured shapes and a fun newly installed rubber surfaced area for the children to ride their bikes and scooters.

The garden also features a "messy" mud kitchen, large sandpit, digging and growing boxes and a water wheel. We have a large new sheltered canopy which provides a versatile area for the children to learn and play in all weathers.
